My entry into the breweriana hobby was not your typical one.
In the late 90’s I was on the way home from a softball game with a buddy when we saw Bud Hudenski’s iconic A-frame wooden sign that simply read ‘Beer Show’. Both being beer drinkers, we immediately whipped into the Crescent Twp. Fire Hall parking lot. Upon entering we were asked for $2 and were directed to the keg. Having always been a sportscard collector, I wandered around the show in search of some sports-beer related items. I found and purchased several small items from Walt Wolf who worked for Iron City. To my surprise Walt proceeded to give me a few additional items at no charge. From that point I was hooked and decided to specialize in sports-beer related items.
Thanks to the generosity and guidance of other members including Ronald McDonald, Walt Wimer, Butch Krosky, Jerry Lorenz, Dick Ober and Bud Hudenski, I expanded my collection and soon accumulated many extras that I began to sell at our shows. Many friendships have been formed with club members and attendees since. 25+ years later I still have many sports items, but have expanded into signage, P.O.S. pieces, posters and tap handles along with any other items I deem interesting.
