John Green

Hello, my name is John Green from Butler, PA.
I started collecting back in the mid 70's. Like so many others, I tried to get as many cans as I could as quickly as possible. In time, space was becoming an issue & I was getting frustrated by seeing the buying/selling of cans. My collection was still displayed, but I went to very few shows.
The only show I went to was the one in Butler each June. In 1990 I met Jim Romine there & pulled off one of my biggest trades ever & that lit the fire again. I rejoined the BCCA, joined the Olde Frothingslosh & Rusty Bunch chapters. Trading was all I did until the BCCA Canvention in Pittsburgh, that's when I broke the ice & started buying/selling like everyone else.
My main focus remains cans, but I do have some nice signs, trays & smalls like coasters, openers etc. I am at my best whenever I am with the many friends I've made over the years, doing what we all love to do.
I worked for Guardian Protection for 45 years. Twenty seven years I was in the field, installing & servicing residential & commercial systems. In 2006 I had the opportunity to move into the office to do Tech Support & got a lot of enjoyment helping techs whenever they needed it. After I retired in May 2024, I knew I wanted to help the chapter in any way I could, so I inquired about an opening for board of directors & was accepted.
I get a great deal of enjoyment collecting & being around the great group of people in the Olde Frothingslosh chapter & the other chapters that are in the BCCA. I hope I can help wherever I can & encourage you to come join us soon!
